Students must add one period of "Release Time" to their high school schedule each semester in order to have a class period where they attend seminary. Students that do not attend Deseret Peak High (home school, online, etc.), please see "Homeschool Students," below.
To make a change to an existing schedule, contact your student's counselor. The counseling office is often accommodating of students who wish to drop an elective in order to add seminary to their course schedule.
Parents can register their student with the Church at myseminary.churchofjesuschrist.org. This grants parent permission for students to participate in seminary and provides contact information to the seminary. Be sure to "opt in" to seminary communication so that you receive announcements and absence notifications.
With questions, please email Cassandra.Legge@ChurchofJesusChrist.org or call 385-323-3686.
Skip step one, complete step two, then notify the seminary of your intent to enroll and the class period that you would like to attend. Click here to see the daily class schedule for Deseret Peak Seminary. Please note that Fridays have a different class schedule.
To free-up in person class time to add seminary, required classes can be taken through the Utah online high school (utahonline.org), the BYU online high school (hs.byu.edu), or the Utah Virtual Academy (utva.k12.com).
Students experiencing credit or scheduling issues could also enroll in the Salt Lake Area online seminary (in place of in-person seminary). Details below.
Online seminary allows students to enroll in seminary anywhere they have Internet. It also has a flexible schedule and a customizable choice in learning experiences that allows students to feel a sense of belonging as they engage with classmates remotely.
